Who is Veerabhadra?

Veerabhadra is a fierce and mighty form of Lord Shiva, born out of divine rage and cosmic justice. According to sacred texts, when Goddess Sati (Shakti) self-immolated in the fire during the yagna of her father, Daksha Prajapati, due to his disrespect toward Lord Shiva, Shiva was consumed with intense grief and anger.

In that moment of anguish, Shiva plucked a lock of his matted hair (Jata) and smashed it to the ground. From that burning strand emerged Veerabhadra, a warrior of terrifying power and divine authority, along with Mahakali. Veerabhadra marched into Daksha’s yagna, destroyed the egoistic rituals, and punished all those who insulted the Divine Feminine and Lord Shiva.
