What is Chandra Grahan Dosha?

What is Chandra Grahan Dosha?
In Vedic astrology, the Moon (Chandra) represents the mind, mother, peace, emotions, intuition, and nourishment. When the Moon is afflicted by Rahu or Ketu especially during Grahan Yoga (Eclipse) in the natal chart — it creates Chandra Grahan Dosha.

This dosha often results in:
•Mental restlessness, anxiety, fear, mood swings.
•Relationship disharmony, especially with mother or spouse.
•Disturbed sleep, phobias, or emotional imbalance.
•Sudden rise and fall in fame, finance, or social image.
The scriptures say that when the Moon (mind) is eclipsed by shadows (Rahu/Ketu), clarity is lost. Hence, remedies are prescribed to strengthen Chandra and release the shadow energies.

The Shivling & Chandra Story

According to legend, once Daksha Prajapati cursed Chandra because of his partiality towards one of his wives, Rohini. Chandra began to lose his radiance, and his existence was threatened.

Desperate, Chandra performed severe penance and worshipped Lord Shiva. Pleased by his devotion, Shiva placed Chandra on his head as a crescent moon on the Shivlinga. From that moment, Chandra regained his glow and balance.

This story shows us that worship of Lord Shiva, especially through Shivlinga Abhishek, removes Chandra Dosha and Grahan afflictions. It restores mental peace, emotional balance, and divine blessings.
